first_imgThe famed birthplace of Charlie Chaplin was allegedly defamed by travellers, according to local residents.Black Patch Park, heralded as the apparent birthplace of popular British comedy actor Charlie Chaplin, was left a “horrendous mess” by tourists, the Birmingham Mail reported.Gas canisters, building materials, clothes, food, CD’s and even a dog bowl was among the rubbish left at the well-known 20-acre park in Smethwick.Local residents allege gates had been broken down and community members attacked. “It is horrendous and no-one seems to want to do anything about it,” a Smethwick resident said.“They smash the gates down to gain access and there’s a lot of violence and drinking… I’ve heard of people being assaulted by some of the travellers.”Source = e-Travel Blackboard: P.T.
